The past offers an invitation to look inside ourselves: where, in the present moment, we escape to the memories we treasure, and confront those that haunt us. Memories accumulate with the months and days behind us, and the future draws ever nearer. With every beating pulse we see the number ahead grow less. For as the years roll round, they steal away that breath which they first gave. The future holds the reminder that whatever we do, wherever we go, we are traveling to the grave.
